As winter settles in, we hope you’re finding time to embrace the season or perhaps escape to warmer climates for some well-deserved R&R. Amid the winter chill, we’re thrilled to share some exciting news about the future of the Innisfail Golf Club!
After a comprehensive and thoughtful search process, we are proud to announce Kirk Evans as our next Head Golf Professional! With nearly seven years of experience at the Red Deer Golf & Country Club and almost six years at the Wascana Country Club in Saskatchewan, Kirk brings a wealth of knowledge, a dynamic personality, and a strong passion for the game. His dedication to learning and improving will be a tremendous asset to our club as we continue to grow and enhance the experience for our members and guests.
In addition to welcoming Kirk, we are delighted to confirm that Melissa Perron and Dylan Wood will be returning for the 2025 season. Their expertise and commitment are invaluable, and their presence will play a key role in ensuring a successful year ahead.
Q&A with Kirk Evans: Goals, Excitement, and the 2025 Season
We sat down with Kirk for a quick Q&A to learn more about his vision for the upcoming season. Here’s what he had to say:
Dale (General Manager): What are you most excited about for the 2025 season?
Kirk: Honestly, so many things… Innisfail has always been the premium semi-private club in Central Alberta, and the fact that it celebrated its 100th Anniversary last year is incredible! The club and its members must be doing the right things to sustain such a legacy. I look forward to seeing where and how I can help to make a great club even better.
Dale: What would you say are your top goals for the upcoming season?
Kirk: Retaining key staff like Melissa and Dylan is a top priority, as they have invaluable insight into what has worked well and areas we can improve upon. I also want to meet the members and learn about their needs and desires—they are, after all, the lifeblood of the club.
Dale: What do you think the biggest difference is between your current club (RDG&CC) and Innisfail GC?
Kirk: While every club is unique, they also share similarities. Members and guests want to be greeted with a friendly face, receive excellent service, and feel a sense of belonging. Although my previous club was private, friendliness and engagement cost nothing, whether interacting with members, the public, or guests. I’m eager to learn the “Innisfail way” and see how I can contribute to its continued success.
Dale: On behalf of the board, membership, and staff, WELCOME to IGC!
Kirk: Thanks so much! I can assure you I’m twice as excited to get started and meet everyone.
Looking Ahead
Kirk officially begins his role in early January, and we’ll share his contact information with members at that time. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome as he steps into this new chapter with Innisfail Golf Club!
