The Innisfail Golf Club is proud to unveil our new logo and brand, crafted in collaboration with Arktos Graphics. A huge thank you to Arktos for bringing our vision to life! For those who were not in attendance at the AGM, we also wanted to unveil the logo to you. Below is a short explanation of the logo’s creation from designer, Matt Berry.
From Matt Berry w/Arktos Graphics
When I was asked to develop a new logo for IGC moving forward, I was extremely honoured. My connection to the club has been strong since I began golfing in 1997. Through working at IGC for several years and playing here for over 25, I felt I had a sound understanding of who our club is and set out to develop a new brand that both honoured the tradition and set it up for continued success.
I spent a few weeks doing my research into the history of the town and the history of the club to develop a concept that paid respect to the past but set the club up better in the future. I based the concept on 3 main ideas:
- The town of Innisfail’s name comes from its Irish-language epithet for Ireland – meaning Isle of Destiny
- The new 9 build and how it was intertwined with our existing 18 holes to create 3 distinct 9’s
- Pay respect to the logos of the past, the tree and how to modernize that for 2023 and beyond.
This logo wasn’t designed in a few days, it took months of research and design to create something that I felt confident would represent the club in a positive light – for all patrons – young and old.
I believe this fresh logo beautifully joins the spirit of Innisfail and our cherished club, paying homage to our rich history while taking us forward into an exciting future. Thank you to Kendall and the IGC Board for trusting me with such an important part of our club’s history.
